One girl.
Two wolves.
Promised to one.
Destined for the other.

To escape the cruel, overbearing, Kade, the Yukon Pack alpha she’s been promised to, Bailey Whitehill flees her home in search of a new life, one of freedom where she can make her own choices. However, Kade will stop at nothing to make her his and begins the hunt. As Bailey starts her new life, everything she’s known to be true, is not. Time is of the essence and choices have to be made or consequences suffered. Not only does Bailey fear Kade, but another danger lurks deep in the recesses of the forest. Unbeknownst to her, that danger is what she’s been searching for all along. At the turn of the moon, her fate hangs in the balance . . . and it’s up to her to make the right choice.

"You’re disappointed I didn’t sleep with you last night?” Ryker asked.

“Not at all. I enjoy sleeping alone. I have more room.”

“You lie, angel. I could feel your disappointment this morning. All you have to do is tell me you want me and I’ll stay. I have to hear it.”

“You know I want you, Ryker. I’m sure you could figure that out the other night.”

My whole life, I never needed anyone to protect me, not even my parents. And when it came down to it, they didn’t do a very good job when it came to Kade. I knew I could survive on my own. Admitting I needed or even wanted someone was foreign to me. Saying the words out loud was near impossible.

“You showed me, but haven’t told me. Words can be powerful,” he replied.

Rolling my eyes, I got out of bed and threw on some clothes before going downstairs. He was in the kitchen with his back to me, shirt off, wearing only a pair of boxers. Holy fuck.

“So if I take off my clothes and lay down on the table, you wouldn’t have sex with me?”

He chuckled. “Nope.”

“You sure?”

He continued on with cooking while I stood there, dumbfounded.

I didn’t believe him for a second.

His back stiffened when I took off my shirt and pants and climbed up on the table.

“I am so hungry,” I announced, waiting for him to turn around.

When he did, he completely ignored me and sat down with his plate of food.

He pointed to the counter. “Your plate’s up there.”

“You’re seriously not going to look at me?”

He studied an invisible spot on the table and placed a piece of bacon in his mouth, crunching it slowly.

“You’re not ready for that.”

I waited for him to sneak a peek but he didn’t.

“Who’s the stubborn one now?” He chuckled.

“Still you, sweetheart. You have me beat.”

I read that this was the authors first step into writing paranormal. Ms Dover has written many other books and series but none paranormal. If this is her first- she's found her calling!!!

What a great start to a new series!

Of course, every pnr has the same general skeleton storyline.... :
Stubborn male or female or both, refusing to give in to the obvious attraction, something causing them to come closer, and then generally a happy ending.

But with variations! And it's how the skeleton is built upon that makes the difference between a meh book and a great book.

This definitely falls into the great. Well written, great characters that are written with great description so no matter the personality- good, but, sleazy, romantic etc. Ms Dover has them down to a Tee for us.

As it's the beginning of the series we naturally begin with the top of the tree and the alpha of the pack to be the main one of the series- but that's not where we start.

Bailey is strong alpha female who has made a promise to her parents, many years ago, that has come time to make good on. She always thought it would never come to having to mate the local packs alpha male- she was sure by now in her early twenties she would have found love. But she hadn't, and Kade was not a nice man, Wolf, or anything.

She did what she had to.... And fled for her life, leaving her family and her only true friend, Sebastian behind.

Fleeing from Canada to the USA she didn't stop, knowing there would be a price on her head if she was caught...

Finally stopping in Wyoming, she risked a quick bathe in a lake... Only to sense another Wolf... Closing in and quick.
Moving swiftly, she shifts back to a Wolf but not quick enough and is pounced on by the Wolf. And all goes black..

Ryker knew it was Bailey as soon as he scented her. He'd never forgot her. How could he? They were true mates...

Taking her back to his home and pack, he's stunned and bewildered when Bailey has no clue who he is...

How can that be?? And who is now coming into their territory?
Sebastian mysteriously appears, but why couldn't they scent him? And he has some things to tell Bailey that turns her whole world around...

And can she be so sure that what happened the night she fled the pack went as far as it did? Or is something else waiting to surprise Bailey?

One of those books that you can just sit and read and not put it down till you finish! I really did like it!
I'm hoping that Ms Dover will carry on the series and that it stays just as good as the first one!!

Thanks for the great read!!
