What I'm Reading:"Fifth Grave Past the Light" (Charley Davidson #5) byDarynda Jones

Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones was one of the best series i have read in years and is now a firm favourite with me.

The most recent book in the series "Fifth Grave Past The Light" was released in July and to my joy I won a copy  (an actual paperback copy not an ebook!) in a competition!  I was over the moon as I would have made it one of my books to get anyway so this just brought it nearer!

To read about the earlier books in the series Fantastic Fiction has a page HERE full if them and also more of Ms Jones' books.
I did also to a tour on the book which had a giveaway (which is sadly now finished) and a quick intro to the book, so to find that post just click HERE. It's been definitely my most popular tour host stop to date!

The blurb for this book is as follows:

"Charley Davidson may not look like your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper, but she has vowed to reap grimness wherever she goes despite this unfortunate fact. Sadly, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. As he is the main suspect in her arson case, she has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth.

However, when dead women start appearing in her apartment - lost, confused and terrified beyond reason - Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes's help, especially when it becomes apparent that her own sister Gemma is the serial killer's next target. With his ability to observe incorporeally, surely he can find out who's responsible. And even if he can't, he is the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return: Charley. All of her - body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she might be willing to pay . . ."

How can that not sound like a great read to any paranormal fan!!

I have already read so many reviews raving about how good this book is so I was itching to try and read it in between the books I read as a book tour host.

Review 31st July 2013

Should I have expected anything less than a total page turner from Ms Jones?
Read it so quick and I didn't want to put it down!!

So Charley and her seeing dead people gig and being a portal to heaven (ie the grim reaper) is back after a soul searching book in the last one.

Her relationship with the hunk of love Reyes Farrow gets better with every book I swear.  But now were passed the "will they/won't they?" Scenario and sometimes that can take done if the edge off a book. Nuh uh. Not this one- their relationship is written in such a way you want to BE Charley and begin to wish that such a person as Reyes (without the whole son of Satan thing!) existed and that you could find him!!!

There are 2 or 3 mini stories all running through this book but never confusing and I was even surprised at the end and of course poor Charlie yet again spends alot of time sleeping.

Characters introduced in earlier books are not forgotten and are almost bring new storylines with them for the future.

I love the little lines that are written with every new chapter, they always make me giggle. The ones that stand out to me in this book is "life is short. Buy the shoes", "Im a Virgin, but then again, this t-shirt is old"

Ms Jones writing and humour is right on my level (dirty and sarcasm!!) as it always is. She knows how to make you laugh, snigger, gape, feel sympathy and feel sad. She's just a brilliant author.

There is another series called "Darklight" that Ms Jones has written and its on my TBR pile but this makes me want to pull it out from all the other tbr's and lock myself in a room with drinks and sweeties and not come out till I've read them!!  If they're anything even remotely like the Charley series, I'm there!!

Totally recommend this one guys!! If you haven't read this one- I'd advise to reading from the start as a lot of the characters and some parts of the book hints back to previous ones.

Love, love, LOVE it!!!!!
