Fleeing her recent past, Lilliah Woods finds refuge in the anonymity of the present day inner-city slums. As she settles into the seedy apartment she must now call home, she meets mysterious Marek Jamison when he materializes in her doorway demanding to know who she is. From that moment, he becomes a guardian and guide as she gradually discovers his hidden world.

As their relationship develops, Lilliah learns of Marek's dark past and of a brothers' quarrel he has been embroiled in for years. The quarrel turns into a larger battle of good and evil, liberty versus tyranny, and the separation of love and lust.

With Lilliah as the ultimate prize, the deadly conflict reaches out to threaten her family, and the outcome of the final battle will determine her fate. Lilliah must embark on an unexpected path that teaches her to trust in the man she has come to love, and give of herself as she never thought she could....

Book Trailer:

Jennifer has been happily married to her husband for fifteen years. They met at Brigham Young University on a blind date, and, at first, she was sure he wasn't for her, but now  cannot imagine life without him.
She leads a busy life but tries to keep it as simple as possible, focusing on what matters most to her---home and family.Hobbies include reading, cooking, spend time with her family, and now she can add writing to that list---it is her "creative outlet; we all need one".

Jennifer Thompson is a native Arizonan whose newfound love for writing stemmed from her great love of books. She enjoys immersing herself in an engaging story and can always be found with a good book close by. A graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in History Teaching, Jennifer and her husband reside in southern Arizona with their five children.

The Scent of a Soul is her debut novel, and with the creative flood gates now opened, she is working on bringing to life other stories waiting to be told.

What a cool book!

This was one that Ms Thompson requested i reviewed for her, and i have to say it was a joy to read and I'm so glad i found it!  Totally recommend!

Anyway, the story revolves around Lilliah who has up sticks and moved from her home town to escape from her ex-fiance.  She moves into an appalling apartment building, and from day one keeps bumping into a mysterious gorgeous stranger who lives in the building.

Of course his past DOES come out and results in both him and Lilliah going on the run to find sanctuary.
The story has so many twists and turns and great characters and (for once, nowadays) an ending that makes you smile, and also a little bit of an opening for a follow up book -which again, i would love to read!

I read this on my Holidays and it was a perfect beach read - although i sneaked passage readings when i was getting dressed up for a night out some nights to carry on reading!
The story flows from page one, i did no skim reading (which is what i tend to do when the story goes a little off the main story or drifts a bit!), so gobbled it all up!  Characters are like able and easy to gel with.

Totally recommended!
