Ash Krafton Guest Post "Thoughts on Writing a Series"

Author of "Stranger At The Hell Gate" and i have just added it as a book tour (here) and look forward to reviewing it at some point!

Ash kindly answered my question on her thoughts of writing a series for "Penny For Them..." and this is what she says!

Hello, Again: Thoughts on Writing a Series

Writing BLOOD RUSH (Demimonde #2) was much
different than writing the first book of the Demimonde series.

When I wrote BLEEDING HEARTS (Demimonde #1), I had
to introduce my characters and start building their world from the ground up.
There was back story, there were new supes, there were rules to create--all in
order to tell the story of a woman who learns she'd been living in a world of
secret paranormal beings (and she was pretty "super" herself, after
all.)

The second book was easier in that respect. I just
got to go back into the world I created and visit the characters I'd come to
love.

I admit, there were times during editing when I'd
forget to proof and just read. I got to focus on the story, the action, and the
people (a term used loosely) without having to worry as much as I did with book
one: why can a demivamp control a human? How does a DV turn into full vampire?
Where to my Weres fit in? All those questions had to be asked and answered when
I started the series. With the sequel, the groundwork was laid and I could just
see where the story went.

Other writers might enjoy this post
Query Tracker Blog…but readers like me might simply be content to enjoy a
second chance to visit the demivampires of Balaton, Pennsylvania.

As for me, I'm going back for thirds. *grin* Soon
I'll be back at the keyboard, writing WOLF'S BANE (Demimonde #3). Hope to see
you there…
